Stock Market Today: Sensex, Nifty Face Pressure as Oil Nears $115

Mumbai: Indian stock-market investors are heading into Tuesday's trading session with caution as rising crude oil prices and global uncertainty continue to influence market sentiment.

The Nifty 50 and Sensex had recovered on Monday after four consecutive sessions of losses. The Nifty closed about 0.7% higher, while the Sensex also gained, giving investors some relief after the recent sell-off.

However, the recovery faces fresh challenges. Brent crude was trading near $115 per barrel, close to a six-month high. Higher oil prices are a concern for India because the country imports a large share of its energy requirements. Expensive crude can increase import costs and add pressure on inflation and corporate profitability.

Global Factors in Focus

Investors are also watching developments in global markets and the upcoming US Federal Reserve policy decision.

A stronger dollar and higher US yields could put additional pressure on emerging-market equities. Foreign investors have already been selling Indian shares, with October outflows remaining a major concern for the domestic market.

At the same time, Asian markets were showing gains on Tuesday, helped by strength in technology and AI-related stocks. This could provide some support to Indian equities despite the pressure from oil prices.

Stocks to Watch

Several companies are likely to remain in focus following recent corporate updates and quarterly results.

Tata Consumer Products, Paytm and Nazara Technologies are among the stocks attracting investor attention after their latest business updates. Paytm reported a significant rise in profit, while Nazara Technologies returned to profitability with strong revenue growth.

For traders and investors, the key factors to watch today will be crude oil prices, foreign institutional flows, global market cues and developments around US monetary policy.

Market movements can remain volatile when several global factors are changing at the same time.
